Go Green Week

This year Go Green Week will commence on October 30th – Nov 3rd 2017.

We’re still planning the week’s events, but previous years have included volunteering in the herb garden, competition to win a University Hire Bike, Dr Bike coming along to maintain staff and student cycles; alongside competitions, seminars, workshops and great giveaways!

‘P&P Go Green’ Week

The 2018 People & Planet Go Green Week is tbc. We’re hoping that our students will support this venture and put on a great week of activities for you all to enjoy.

Environmental Films

We have a fantastic collection of films that can be made available to staff and students. Please email environment@lincoln.ac.uk for further information of the films on offer.

The Great Holiday Switch Off

Over Christmas the University closes down for almost two weeks. During this period we ask that all staff and students take time to help reduce our energy consumption, thus lowering our carbon footprint.

You can help by:

  • Turning off at the wall –
    • Computers
    • Monitors
    • Printers
    • Kettles
    • Microwaves
    • Toasters
    • Other electrical items
  • Closing all windows
  • Closing curtains
  • Ensuring all lights are switched off
  • Turning down radiators – do not switch off completely in case it’s a very cold period
  • Defrosting the fridge and switching off at the mains socket

DID YOU KNOW?

“A photocopier left on standby overnight wastes enough energy to make 30 cups of tea”

“A PC monitor switched off for one night saves enough energy to microwave six meals!”

Volunteer days with the Student Union

Throughout the year, The Student Union organise many volunteer action days which help with the local environment and community.
