Space Management

The Space Management team optimises University space in line with University objectives and relevant legislation. The team leads the implementation and development of the University’s Space Management Policy, which supports the efficient, effective and equitable use of space.

Space is the University’s largest cost after payroll and an important resource for teaching, learning and research.

To promote space efficiency, University departments are charged for the space they occupy and book. We maintain and provide the space allocation data which enables space charging.

We also survey key spaces periodically to assess their utilisation. We then make recommendations to senior management to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Space Planning & Design

The team provides space planning and design services to ensure regulatory compliance, effectiveness, efficiency, and consistency of look and feel across campus.

Minor changes to furniture, signage and space allocation are handled by the Space Management team directly. Larger changes involving refurbishment or construction are handled by the Maintenance and Projects teams, with support from the Space Management team.

Space Change Requests

The Space Management team handles all requests for changes to space allocation, configuration and use, as mandated in the University’s  Space Management Policy.

If you would like changes to the allocation, configuration or use of existing space, or if you require additional space, please submit a Space Change Request.

Room Bookings

University students and staff can book hundreds of spaces across campus using the University’s online Room Booking system.

The team provides the space and capacity data which underpins the Room Booking system.
