We take the safety and security of our students, staff and visitors extremely seriously and employ a range of security measures to ensure our campuses are safe and secure environments for all.
CCTV plays an important role in promoting a safer campus and we employ cameras internally and externally on all our campuses. A list of camera locations is available at the link below. The purposes of our CCTV system are:
• the prevention, reduction, detection and investigation of crime and other incidents;
• to ensure the safety of staff, students and visitors;
• to assist in the investigation of alleged breaches of University regulations;
• to assist in health and safety investigations;
• to assist in the application and enforcement of the University parking policy, and
• the monitoring and enforcement of wider traffic related matters.
Our CCTV system is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office and the registration number is Z7846984.
The University of Lincoln has in place a CCTV surveillance system across its UK campuses.

Subject Access Requests
CCTV images of individuals are personal information and people have the right to find out what personal information is held about them. To request access to CCTV images of themselves held by the University, individuals may make a subject access request by contacting the Information Compliance team via email at compliance@lincoln.ac.uk.
Access to CCTV images in relation to specific incidents
The Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018, Schedule 2 Part 1 Para 2(1)(a)&(b) and GDPR 6(1)(d)
provide exemptions enabling the release of CCTV images to third parties for specified purposes, such as the prevention and detection of crime or to assist in health and safety investigations. Images may also be released to persons charged with conducting investigations into alleged breaches of conduct by staff and students. Victims of crime are encouraged to report the incident to the police who may request access to University CCTV images as part of their investigation.
