Working on Campus during hot weather

It is anticipated that there will be particularly high temperatures in Lincoln on Monday 18th July and Tuesday 19th July, with the Met Office issuing a red weather warning of extreme heat.

Staff are encouraged to take extra steps to stay safe during this warm period. For those working on campus and usually based in spaces without mechanical cooling, there are air-conditioned spaces available at Brayford and Holbeach, for staff to use as required.

These spaces include:

Brayford

  • The University Library.
  • Sarah Swift Building – Learning Lounges and seminar rooms.
  • Minerva Building – seminar rooms.
  • Joseph Banks Laboratories – meeting rooms.

Holbeach

  • Centre of Excellence.
  • NCFM.

Please note that even within air-conditioned spaces, it is possible that systems may struggle to achieve temperature set points within such extreme weather conditions. Therefore, staff are kindly asked to only report air conditioning faults to the Estates Support Desk when units are not functioning and to avoid requesting lower temperature set points, as systems will struggle to achieve them.
