As part of our continuous improvement work, we decided in 2011 to invest in an integrated facility management system: Planon.
In the first stage of the project, the Property Management and Space Management teams recorded all of the University’s properties and spaces in the system. The reactive maintenance and Support Desk modules followed.
We now use Planon to manage the following areas:
- Asbestos management (surveys & register)
- Asset management (planned and long-term maintenance)
- Contractor management (permits to work, approved contractors)
- Document management
- Property management
- Reactive maintenance
- Space management
- Statutory compliance
- Stock management
- Support Desk (including cleaning, maintenance, porterage and security)
- Visitor management
There are approximately 45 UK universities using Planon. Our implementation is seen as sector-leading and we have hosted fact-finding visits from a number of other universities and other organisations. Planon uses the University as a reference site and includes our work in its presentations to potential customers.
In July 2016, Lincoln hosted the annual UK HE Planon User Group Conference. We welcomed over 60 delegates from across the UK and Planon’s global headquarters in the Netherlands.
