New Liftshare Scheme for Staff

A new Liftshare scheme is being introduced for staff at the University – and you can sign up now.

If you have a University of Lincoln car parking permit you can join the scheme and split the cost of your journey with a colleague and reduce your carbon footprint. The benefits of car sharing are:

  • Reduces the costs of travelling
  • Cuts congestion and pollution
  • Reduces the environmental impact of single occupancy vehicles
  • Reduces parking problems
  • A great way of networking and making new friends

Liftshare will come into place on Monday 17th September 2018. Initially 20 car sharing spaces will be reserved exclusively for those participating in the scheme, and will be marked out with blue bays. The bays will be split between two locations on the main Boulevard car park at the Brayford campus: behind the Isaac Newton Building, and near to the Janet Lane-Claypon Building (previously called the Science Building).

To make use of a Liftshare bay, simply display two permits in the same vehicle for the days you are sharing. You can then use your permit as normal in a regular bay on days when you don’t share. Staff can sign up to the Liftshare scheme now via https://liftshare.com/uk/community/uni-lincoln. The site also has more information about Liftshare, such as how you manage costs and finding a Liftshare partner.

It is part of the national LiftShare scheme, which is used by universities and businesses across the UK. Representatives from Liftshare will be available for drop in information sessions on 6th September at 12 noon in the Isaac Newton Building (INB0114) and at 1pm in the Minerva Building (Jackson lecture theatre). Everyone attending the presentations will get a voucher for a free sandwich and hot or cold drink which they can use anytime the following week.

The Estates team will be monitoring the uptake of the scheme, and will mark additional car share bays as required. The updated car parking policy, which includes information about the Guaranteed Ride Home policy for those in the scheme, can be found on here..
