Brayford Campus North Side – Power Outage
Friday 18 July
On Friday 18 July, there will be a planned power outage affecting the north side of the Brayford Campus at approximately 10:00.
This may cause potential disruption to IT services from 08:00 until 13:00, to allow for the safe shutdown and recovery of systems.
The power outage is being mandated by National Grid to enable them to carry out essential testing on the local power network. We expect power to key buildings services to be reinstated with an hour, with potential further disruption to building and IT systems for an additional two hours.
Staff should consider the need to relocate any activity planned between 08:00 – 13:00 in the affected buildings. Affected buildings are listed below:
• Minerva Building
• Alfred Tennyson Building
• Stephen Langdon Building
• Village Hall
• Bridge House
• One Campus Way
• Cygnet Wharf
• Courts 1-17
• Canoe Club
Services that will be affected during the outage are listed below;
• All building services will be unavailable from approximately 10:00, including lights, ventilation, and cooling.
• Lifts will be out of order from 09:30 until after power is restored
• Between 8:00am and 13:00, the following DT services may be unavailable:
• Wi-Fi and wired networks
• Desk phones
• Printers
• Digital Displays
• All equipment that does not have power protection
Please take steps to safely manage research related data that may be impacted. Consider switching off locally managed equipment that could be vulnerable to power surges.
Power will be unaffected in the Student Wellbeing Centre, Sarah Swift, David Chiddick, 179 High Street, and all buildings south of the railway line.
