The objective of the Edible Campus project is to provide space at the Brayford Campus for students to grow their own food. In 2017, a small number of heritage variety apple trees were planted in open spaces around the Student Village and raised beds were constructed behind Witham House for vegetable planting. The vegetables grown in these beds have been used to create meals by the Chaplaincy for members of the University community to enjoy and share together. We’ve installed a water butt to collect rain water to help with the watering of the garden.
The Edible Kitchen Garden will eventually encompass a tranquil area where the community can come to sit and relax.
