Competition – “Make It Green”

Have you spotted anything on campus that could be made more environmentally friendly?

Send us a ten second video clip and an explanation of how you’d make an environmental difference. The ten best ideas will be formed into a bigger video and published on our web and social media pages.

Ideas could involve ways to save energy, reduce the university carbon footprint, alternate sustainable transport options, improved campus biodiversity, better recycling options!

The video clips will be judged by the Environmental Sustainability Team and prizes awarded as follows:

1st prize = £30 Odeon gift voucher

2nd prize = £20 Odeon gift voucher

3rd place = £10 Waterstones gift voucher

Each of the top ten finalists gets a University branded water bottle.

Carbon Clinic – Food

Have you ever wondered what the impact the food you buy has on the environment?

You hear about how climate change impacts the food we want to buy, do you remember the courgette shortage at the start of the year? But our food choices also play their part on our carbon impact.

In this 45 minute session you’ll learn:

  • The place of food in our lives
  • How to limit the impact of your food choices on the environment
  • How to minimise the stress we put on the worlds water systems

Your opportunity to volunteer in the University kitchen garden. See what vegetables we’ve got growing and our plans for the year.
Please wear shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Terms and Conditions

  1. The competition is being organised by the Environmental Sustainability Team at the University of Lincoln
  2. Competition is only open to staff and students currently working and/or studying at the University of Lincoln
  3. The deadline for entries is Friday 3rd of November 2017
  4. Winner will be chosen by the Environmental Sustainability Team and will be notified by Friday 10th November 2017
  5. Winner must collect prize within 14 days of notification
  6. The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prizes are not transferable

PERMISSIONS AND COPYRIGHT

  1. If your video features any person or people, they should be aware that they are being filmed and written permission (model release) should be obtained by the videographer from all involved (or their parent’s/guardian’s permission if under 18). The University reserves the right to disqualify any entry where such permissions are unclear.
  2. Copyright in all images submitted for this competition remains with the respective videographer. However, each videographer grants a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual licence to the University of Lincoln to feature their submitted clip or image from the video in any of their publications, websites and/or in any promotional material connected to this competition, including licensing for (non-commercial) editorial use by third party media. The Promoter will always ask third party media to credit videographer where clips or images are used but cannot be held responsible for errors or omissions.
  3. Winners agree to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material associated with the Competition. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.

INDEMNITY

  1. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the University of Lincoln excludes its liability for any loss, damage, injury, cost or expense suffered by entrants, whether directly or indirectly and howsoever caused, in connection with the Competition and use of any prize. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall exclude the University’s liability for death or personal injury arising from its own negligence or any other liability that cannot, as a matter of law, be excluded.
  2. By entering this competition you agree to indemnify the University of Lincoln and keep the University of Lincoln indemnified against any loss, damage, injury, cost or expense suffered by the University as a result of your entry in the Competition, including (but not limited to) any claim of infringement of intellectual property rights made by any third party.
  3. The University of Lincoln reserves the right to cancel or amend this Competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the Promoter’s control. Any changes to the Competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible.

ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

  1. The Competition and these Terms and Conditions will be governed by English law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England. Entry into the Competition will be deemed as acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
